Scaling Nike Retail Across Europe.

From global Brand strategy to market execution.

During my time leading the Retail Brand Presentation team for Nike Stores across Central Europe and Scandinavia, I was responsible for translating Nike's global brand and visual merchandising direction into retail environments that could perform consistently across very different markets.

The challenge was not simply to open stores quickly. It was to create a scalable retail model that protected Nike's brand expression while responding to local market conditions, store formats, product assortments and commercial priorities. I led the VM and retail brand workstream across a large-scale portfolio of store openings, relocations and major refits, working across France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland and the Nordic markets.

My role.

I acted as the link between global brand strategy and local market execution, bringing together Visual Merchandising, Merchandising, Allocation, Marketing, Retail Operations, Store Development and external partners.

My responsibility was to establish the direction, align stakeholders and create the frameworks that enabled teams to execute consistently from the initial store planning through VM implementation and final launch. Rather than treating every store as an individual project, I focused on creating repeatable standards, processes and tools that could scale across markets while still allowing the retail experience to respond to local commercial opportunities.

The scale.

The VM challenge.

How do you scale a global brand experience without making every store feel the same?

My approach was to establish a clear strategic VM framework; defining the principles that needed to remain consistent while giving markets enough flexibility to respond to their customers, product mix and commercial context.

Global brand strategy → Scalable VM system → Local market execution → Commercial performance

Building the system.

A key part of my role was developing the guidelines, implementation tools and ordering processes required to make the VM strategy scalable.

I introduced a brand asset ordering system that improved the way retail assets were specified, ordered and deployed, while creating greater consistency across markets and reducing the complexity of individual store rollouts.

This shifted the focus from managing individual openings towards building an operating model for scalable VM execution.

Leading through complexity.

With multiple markets, functions and external partners involved, successful execution depended on more than strong VM direction.

I aligned stakeholders around priorities, managed dependencies and resolved implementation challenges ensuring that commercial requirements, operational realities and brand standards were considered together.

My role was to provide the direction, structure and decision-making framework that allowed local teams and partners to execute with confidence.

The result.

The programme enabled Nike to scale its retail presence while maintaining a consistent and recognisable brand experience across markets and store formats.

More importantly, it strengthened the foundations for repeatable, commercially relevant VM execution allowing the organization to move faster without compromising the customer experience or brand standards.

My leadership principles.

  • Set the direction globally.

  • Build the system to scale.

  • Empower markets to execute.

  • Use commercial insight to continuously improve.
